The vision of the University of Tartu Institute of Social Studies (ÜTI) for 2030 is to be a sustainable integrator of disciplines within the university, combining theory, teaching, and practice based on research. ÜTI aims to be a leading expert in Estonia for scientifically analyzing and reflecting on social and cultural processes, providing top-tier education in social sciences. Internationally, it seeks recognition as a center of excellence in social theory, methodology, and the analysis of societal and cultural processes. Core competencies include sociology, journalism and communication, community development and social well-being, and data, information, and media literacy.</p><p>ÜTI also strives to create a caring, human-centered environment that supports academic growth for both staff and students. The institute's core activities—teaching and research—are bolstered by a strong budget and quality infrastructure, ensuring the sustainable development of key data infrastructures, including the European Social Survey and the International Children's Well-Being Survey.</p>
